Cuttack: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday carried out simultaneous searches at four locations linked to forest ranger Rajendra Kumar Samantray of Jagatsinghpur districts following allegations that he possessed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The raids were conducted after search warrants were issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. The operation was led by 2 Additional Superintendents of Police (SPs), 5 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 8 Inspectors, and supporting staff.

Vigilance teams searched a triple-storeyed residential building at Chatara in Jagatsinghpur district and a double-storeyed house at his native village, Samantarayapur under Dondo post office. His office at the Forest Range, Sampur, under the Cuttack Forest Division, was also inspected, along with a government quarter located within the Jagatsinghpur Forest Range campus.

During the searches, officials examined documents, property records, and other materials to assess the extent of assets allegedly accumulated beyond legitimate income sources. The exercise aims to establish whether the official acquired wealth illegally.

The action underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued efforts to curb corruption and enforce accountability among government officials, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and integrity in public service.

Search operations were ongoing at the time of filing this report. The Vigilance department stated that further details would be shared after the evaluation of seized materials is completed.
