In a heartfelt New Year message, Arijit thanked listeners for their unwavering support over the years.
“Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off,” he wrote.
He also assured fans that he will complete pending commitments, meaning some new releases may still arrive this year.
A 15-Year Playback Journey That Defined Bollywood Music
Arijit made his Bollywood debut with “Phir Mohabbat” in Murder 2 (2011) and went on to deliver chartbusters such as “Tum Hi Ho,” “Channa Mereya,” “Raabta,” and “Kesariya.”
Over 15 years, his soulful voice became synonymous with romance, heartbreak, and melody in Hindi cinema.
Focus Shifts to Independent Music
The Padma Shri awardee emphasized that while he is stepping away from film assignments, he will continue creating music on his own terms.
“I am a fan of good music and in future will be learning more and do more on my own as a small little artist… Just to be clear that I won’t stop making music,” he said.
