New Delh: The India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi will take place on Saturday, marking a significant diplomatic milestone in deepening India’s engagement with the Arab world.

India Co-Chairs Meeting With UAE, All 22 Arab States to Attend
The 2nd India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (IAFMM) will be co-chaired by India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Foreign ministers and senior representatives from all 22 member states of the Arab League, along with the Arab League Secretary General, will participate in the discussions.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the meeting as an important step toward strengthening the growing India-Arab partnership.
First Ministerial Dialogue Since 2016 Bahrain Meeting
According to the MEA, this meeting is being held after nearly a decade. The first India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting took place in 2016 in Bahrain.
Officials said the second edition is expected to build on existing cooperation and open new avenues for deeper collaboration.
Key Institutional Framework Between India and Arab League
The India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting remains the highest institutional mechanism guiding cooperation between India and the League of Arab States (LAS).
The formal dialogue framework began in March 2002 with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between India and the Arab League.
Further cooperation was strengthened through a Memorandum of Cooperation signed in December 2008, which led to the creation of the Arab-India Cooperation Forum.
This structure was revised again in 2013 to make the framework more robust.
India currently holds observer status at the Arab League.
Focus Areas: Economy, Energy, Education, Media and Culture
At the first ministerial meeting in 2016, both sides identified five major priority sectors for cooperation:
- Economy and trade
- Energy security
- Education
- Media collaboration
- Cultural exchanges
The New Delhi meeting will review progress made in these areas and explore new initiatives to further strengthen ties.
First Time India Hosts India-Arab Ministerial Talks in New Delhi
This is the first time India is hosting the India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in its capital city.
