BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi flood survey highlighted the scale of the flood situation reviewed affected areas across five districts and more than 12 blocks on Saturday. Accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and the Special Relief Commissioner, Majhi assessed the impact of the floods and reviewed ongoing rescue and relief operations.

He said the government’s immediate priority remains protecting lives, restoring normalcy and providing timely assistance to affected families.

Mohan Charan Majhi Flood Survey Reviews Relief Operations

Following the aerial inspection, the Chief Minister said nearly 8 lakh people have been affected by the floods, while 2.69 lakh people have been shifted to safer places through large-scale evacuation efforts.

He directed officials to complete damage assessment reports within three days after floodwaters recede, enabling the government to release compensation for crop losses and damaged houses without delay.

Majhi said the flood situation is gradually improving and expressed hope that water levels would recede over the next two days.

Rescue Teams Deployed Across Flood-Hit Areas

The Chief Minister said the state continues to follow a Zero Casualty approach during the disaster response.

According to the government:

17 ODRAF units have been deployed.
7 NDRF teams are engaged in rescue operations.
129 Fire Services squads are assisting affected communities.

Relief camps have been established across the affected districts, providing:

Temporary shelter
Cooked food
Safe drinking water
Medical assistance

Majhi also announced that Rs 26 crore has been released from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to support ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures.

The Chief Minister directed officials to begin repairing damaged roads immediately after floodwaters recede and stressed the need for continuous monitoring to prevent disease outbreaks in flood-affected areas.
