India has expressed its gratitude for the United Kingdom’s show of solidarity in the ongoing fight against terrorism. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri conveyed New Delhi’s appreciation during a meeting with Oliver Robbins, the Permanent Under-Secretary at the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. The meeting was part of the 17th India-UK Foreign Office Consultations and the inaugural Strategic Exports and Technology Cooperation Dialogue held in New Delhi.
Strengthening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India and the UK continue to share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Foreign Office Consultations served as a platform to assess and enhance bilateral ties across various sectors. Both nations welcomed the finalization of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and the Double Contribution Convention.
Focus on Defence, Trade, and Technology Cooperation
The discussions between Foreign Secretary Misri and UK Under-Secretary Robbins focused on boosting collaboration in key areas such as trade, investment, financial services, defence, security, counter-terrorism, and advanced technology. The dialogue marked a significant step forward in deepening India-UK strategic engagement.
