Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), confirmed the deployment and stated that the troops are needed to assist federal agencies in safely executing their responsibilities amid escalating tensions and public demonstrations.
California Sues Trump Administration Over Troop Deployment
On the same day, the State of California filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, claiming the military deployment is unconstitutional. Governor Gavin Newsom stated that such action undermines state authority and announced his own security measures to stabilize the situation.

In response, Governor Newsom announced the deployment of more than 800 state and local law enforcement officers to Los Angeles to help maintain public safety. His office released a statement urging demonstrators to remain peaceful while exercising their right to protest.
