New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today felicitated National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in New Delhi for their successful summit of Mount Everest, lauding their courage, discipline, and dedication.

During the event, the Minister praised the NCC’s initiative to send cadets on such a challenging expedition. “The summit was a true test of discipline and patience,” Mr. Singh said, highlighting the remarkable achievement of the cadets in one of the harshest environments on Earth — and without any injuries.

As a token of appreciation, Mr. Singh presented a cheque of ₹10 lakh to the team for their exceptional feat. He also extended his congratulations to the cadets and their families, stating that the NCC continues to instill a strong sense of national pride and resilience in young Indians.

“Even the World’s Highest Peak is No Limit”

Calling the cadets a source of inspiration for the younger generation, the Defence Minister noted that their expedition sent a powerful message — that no peak is too high for the youth of India. He expressed confidence that these cadets would meet future challenges with the same courage and determination they demonstrated on Everest.

Expedition Details

The NCC Mountaineering Expedition Team, comprising five girls and five boys with an average age of 19 years, successfully scaled Mount Everest on May 18, 2025. During the felicitation event, the cadets shared personal accounts of their journey, discussing the rigorous training, meticulous planning, and the many challenges they faced along the way.

Their achievement adds to NCC’s growing legacy of excellence and determination, reinforcing the belief that India’s youth are capable of scaling the greatest heights — literally and figuratively.
