Starting July 1, oil marketing companies have reduced the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹58.50, bringing the new rate in Delhi down to ₹1,665 per cylinder. This move brings some much-needed relief to hotels, restaurants, and small businesses that heavily depend on commercial LPG for daily operations.
A company official confirmed the price revision, stating, “The rate of 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders has been reduced by ₹58.50, effective from today.”
Recent Price Trends: LPG Rates Over the Months
- June 2025: Price cut of ₹24, bringing the cost to ₹1,723.50
- April 2025: Cylinder priced at ₹1,762
- February 2025: Small ₹7 reduction
- March 2025: ₹6 price increase, slightly reversing February’s cut
This steady decline in recent months has provided operational relief to commercial users, despite fluctuations earlier in the year.
No Change in Domestic LPG Prices
While commercial users benefit from the price cut, household consumers will see no change. The price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders remains unchanged, despite public demand for a price review.
Oil firms reiterated: “There is no change in the prices of 14.2 kg domestic cylinders.”
Household Use Dominates LPG Consumption
India’s LPG usage is primarily domestic, with 90% of the total consumption going towards household cooking. Only 10% is used in commercial, industrial, and automotive sectors, making the domestic price a politically sensitive and economically significant issue.
Crude Oil Prices Influence LPG Rates
India pegs natural gas prices to 10% of its crude oil basket. In May 2025, the average cost of the crude basket fell to $64.5 per barrel, the lowest in three years.
This dip is expected to reduce the burden on oil companies, potentially lowering LPG-related losses by around 45% in FY 2026, provided crude prices remain stable.
Domestic LPG Use on the Rise
By April 2025, domestic LPG connections in India surged to 33 crore, more than double the figure from a decade ago. This highlights the crucial role of cooking gas in everyday Indian life, making price movements closely watched and highly impactful.
