Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced a ₹100 crore incentive for the individual who becomes the first Nobel Laureate in Quantum Science from the state. The announcement was made during a high-profile vision-setting lecture on quantum technologies, which also marked the formal launch of the world’s largest quantum skilling programme in Andhra Pradesh.

He stated that the government has already drawn up a comprehensive action plan focused on developing skilled experts in quantum science and allied disciplines. The Chief Minister was speaking on a digital platform to an audience of more than 50,000 quantum technology students, working professionals, and industry stakeholders as part of a major initiative designed to create a future-ready quantum workforce and further reinforce the Amaravati Quantum Valley ecosystem.

Amaravati Quantum Valley Vision Unveiled by Chief Minister

Outlining the state’s long-term strategy, CM Naidu showcased detailed plans for developing a world-class quantum ecosystem in Amaravati. He emphasized that the initiative is not limited to academic learning but is designed as a complete skilling and innovation roadmap. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted how the state aims to replicate the success of global innovation hubs by creating strong linkages between education, industry, and research.

The Chief Minister described his presentation, titled “Silicon Valley to Quantum Valley,” as a continuation of his earlier vision for information technology. Drawing parallels with the digital revolution, he said Amaravati is poised to play a similar role in anchoring the future knowledge economy through quantum technologies.

Programme Gains Rapid Momentum With Massive Registrations

The quantum skilling programme is being implemented through a strategic partnership led by WISER (The Washington Institute for STEM, Entrepreneurship and Research), with Qubitech serving as the India partner. According to officials, the initiative has already seen strong early traction, with 50,000 registrations recorded within just 10 days of its launch.

Significantly, women account for 51 per cent of the registered participants, highlighting the inclusive and forward-looking nature of the programme. The overwhelming response from students and young professionals reflects growing interest in quantum science as a future-oriented career path.

Amaravati Quantum Valley Aims to Shape Global Quantum Leadership

Reflecting on India’s economic journey, CM Naidu spoke about missed opportunities during the agricultural and industrial revolutions, as well as the impact of the license raj and restrictive policies on growth. He recalled his role in establishing Hitech City, noting that it laid a strong foundation for the IT ecosystem and enabled Telugu youth to become a vital part of the global digital workforce.

Inviting organisations such as WISER, Qubitech, and QKrishi to inspire over 5.4 lakh students to pursue quantum skilling, the Chief Minister said the programme represents a transformative leap rather than a conventional classroom exercise. “Nobody can match Andhra Pradesh in visualisation, speed, and execution of pioneering projects,” he said, expressing confidence that the state will lead the next wave of global technological transformation.

State Targets Quantum Manufacturing and Innovation Ecosystem

CM Naidu reiterated that Andhra Pradesh is focused not only on training talent but also on building a full-scale quantum manufacturing and research ecosystem. With plans to begin quantum computer production within two years, the state aims to attract global investments, research institutions, and startups. Officials believe that Amaravati’s planned infrastructure and policy support will play a key role in turning the quantum vision into reality.
