The Indian Army on Wednesday, August 13, successfully foiled a LoC infiltration in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Officials said the attempt took place in the Churunda area, where an intense gunfight broke out between the infiltrators and Army troops.

According to official sources, one soldier was killed during the exchange of fire. The operation is still underway, with more details awaited.

Kulgam Anti-Terror Operation in Final Stages

Meanwhile, security forces continue a massive manhunt for terrorists hiding in the Akhal forest area of Kulgam district. The operation, which began on August 1, has entered its final stages, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdi confirmed during Independence Day rehearsal events in Srinagar.

So far, the operation has claimed the lives of two Army soldiers and injured nine others. Two terrorists have also been neutralised, though their identities and affiliations remain undisclosed.

Fresh Encounters in Kishtwar’s Dul Area

In another security operation, Army personnel exchanged fire with terrorists in the Dul area of Kishtwar on August 10. The Army’s White Knight Corps reported that troops were acting on specific intelligence when they established contact with terrorists, leading to a brief but intense gunfight. The operation in the region is still ongoing.

With multiple anti-terror operations underway across Jammu and Kashmir, security forces are maintaining high alert along the Line of Control and forested areas to prevent further infiltration attempts and neutralise remaining terrorist threats.
