    Balasore: A tragic Balasore road accident claimed the lives of two youths on Sunday after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding vehicle on State Highway 57, police said. The incident took place in Balasore district, raising fresh concerns over road safety on busy state highways. Both victims died on the spot after sustaining critical injuries in the collision.

    Head-On Collision at Nampo Chak

    According to police, the accident occurred at Nampo Chak when a fast-moving vehicle rammed into the two-wheeler head-on. The deceased were identified as Gautam Sahu, aged 18, and his friend Chandrasekhar Mahapatra, 22. Officers said the impact was severe, leaving no chance of survival for the riders.

    Reckless Driving Suspected

    Preliminary investigation suggests reckless and high-speed driving as the primary cause of the accident, a senior police officer said. The vehicle involved fled the scene immediately after the collision. Police teams have launched a manhunt to trace the driver and identify the vehicle involved.

    Locals Demand Stricter Enforcement

    Residents of the area expressed alarm over the increasing number of accidents on State Highway 57. They cited frequent overspeeding and weak enforcement of traffic rules as recurring problems.

    Locals demanded stricter monitoring, speed checks, and the installation of speed-calming measures to prevent further loss of life.

    Investigation Underway

    The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination as part of standard procedure. Police said further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal crash.
