Chris Gayle Viral Look: Dual Support at IPL 2025 Final Between RCB and PBKS

Published on

Legendary West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle added his trademark flair and humour to the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3, as he chose not to pick sides between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) — two teams he has been a huge part of during his IPL journey.

Gayle, known as the “Universe Boss,” made a dramatic appearance at the stadium wearing elements from both teams.

  • At the RCB team hotel, he was seen in an RCB jersey.
  • At the stadium, he added a Punjabi turban, a clear nod to Punjab Kings.
  • To complete his signature look, he wore blue jeans and flaunted customised RCB-themed shoes on Instagram.

His outfit left fans from both camps equally amused and appreciative, as many tried to decode where Gayle’s loyalty truly lay.

A Storied IPL Journey

Chris Gayle’s IPL career spans three franchises:

  • Kolkata Knight Riders (2009–2010)
  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2011–2017)
  • Punjab Kings (2018–2021)

His best years came with RCB, where he:

  • Scored 608 runs in 2011
  • Hammered 733 runs in 2012
  • Followed it up with 708 runs in 2013

When he went unsold in the 2018 auction, Punjab Kings gave him a second lease, and he delivered consistently for four seasons. He retired from the IPL with an impressive 4965 runs in 142 matches.

AB de Villiers Backs RCB

Also in attendance at the final was AB de Villiers, another RCB legend. Unlike Gayle, de Villiers made his allegiance clear — he was fully behind his former captain and close friend Virat Kohli and the RCB side.

Chris Gayle’s appearance and dual support served as a reminder of his deep connection to the league and its fans. While he didn’t choose a side, he won the hearts of both sets of supporters, proving once again why he remains one of the most beloved figures in T20 cricket history.
