Coolie Box Office Day 1: Rajinikanth & Aamir Khan Set To Break Records with Lokesh Kanagaraj

Published on

Mumbai: The countdown to one of the biggest cinematic clashes of the year has officially begun! All eyes are on August 14, when Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan’s high-octane action thriller Coolie hits the big screens alongside War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, Coolie is already roaring in advance bookings overseas, especially in North America, and the Hindi belt is now catching up fast. The buzz is electric, with early estimates suggesting that Day 1 collections in Hindi may break all previous records for a South-origin film.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Hindi Box Office Leap

Lokesh Kanagaraj is no stranger to blockbusters in the South, but the Hindi belt has remained mostly uncharted territory — until now.

Here’s a look at his previous Hindi box office performance:

FilmHindi Lifetime Gross
Leo₹3 crore
Master₹0.5 crore
Vikram₹0.3 crore

Coolie is expected to surpass Leo’s ₹3 crore lifetime in just a few hours of its release, marking it as Kanagaraj’s biggest Hindi success yet.

Star Power: Rajinikanth + Aamir Khan = Madness

  • Rajinikanth, the legend of Indian cinema, returns in a stylish mass avatar.
  • Aamir Khan, playing a villain after years, has doubled the hype.
  • This North-South collaboration is unlike anything seen before in Indian cinema.

With names like Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Upendra in supporting roles, Coolie is backed by a pan-India powerhouse cast.

Box Office Clash: Coolie vs War 2

The release day is not without heat. Coolie will clash with YRF’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. While War 2 has its loyal fanbase, the Rajinikanth-Aamir combo and Lokesh’s direction give Coolie an edge in buzz.

Industry experts believe both films can perform well in different regions, but Coolie has an upper hand in South India and NRI markets, especially Tamil and Telugu circuits.
