Delhi Election Office Issues Notice to Pawan Khera Over Multiple Voter Registrations
The District Election Office, New Delhi District, has issued a notice to senior Congress leader Pawan Khera for allegedly registering himself in the electoral roll of more than one constituency. The notice, dated September 2, 2025, was issued by the Electoral Registration Officer of Assembly Constituency-40 (New Delhi).
According to the Election Office, Khera’s name appears in both New Delhi Assembly Constituency (AC-40) and Jangpura Assembly Constituency (AC-41), which amounts to a violation under the Representation of the People Act, 1950.

Pawan Khera faces notice for electoral roll duplication
The notice highlights that Pawan Khera is registered in New Delhi Constituency (AC-40) with EPIC number SJE0755967 and in Jangpura Constituency (AC-41) with EPIC number XHC1992338. Both entries carry different addresses in New Delhi — one at NDMC Flats, Kaka Nagar, and the other at D-Block, Nizamuddin East.
The Election Office stated that being registered in more than one constituency is a penal offence and requires an explanation from the concerned voter.
Delhi Election Office invokes Representation of People Act
Citing provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, the Election Office has directed Khera to submit a written explanation. The Act prohibits multiple registrations and can attract legal consequences if found valid.
The notice underscores that the duplication was identified during electoral record scrutiny, raising questions about compliance with election laws.
Deadline set for Pawan Khera’s reply
The District Election Office has given Pawan Khera until 11:00 AM on September 8, 2025 (Monday) to respond to the notice. If he fails to provide a satisfactory explanation, the authorities may initiate proceedings under the law.
This notice could pose a political and legal challenge for Khera, as the Election Commission has been tightening its monitoring of duplicate voter IDs and cross-constituency registrations.
