EAM Jaishankar Congratulates Singapore on 60th National Day

Published on

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar congratulated Singapore on its 60th National Day, expressing appreciation for the enduring friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two nations. “Congratulate FM @VivianBala, the Government and people of Singapore on their 60th National Day. Cherish our enduring friendship and multifaceted cooperation,” Jaishankar posted on X.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) underlined the significance of the relationship, noting that Jaishankar visited Singapore on July 13 for high-level meetings. He met President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. Discussions reviewed progress from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit and the second India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), covering investments, industrial parks, semiconductors, infrastructure, skills, and connectivity. Regional and global issues, including ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific, were also discussed.

Jaishankar also met Teo Chee Hean, Chairman-designate of Temasek Holdings, to explore opportunities for increased investments in India.

In another engagement, MEA Secretary (East) P. Kumaran met Luke Goh, Permanent Secretary (Development) for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, in New Delhi on July 2 to review ongoing bilateral cooperation in priority areas.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Singapore. On January 16, President Droupadi Murmu and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam unveiled a joint logo in New Delhi featuring the national flowers of both countries—the lotus and the orchid—alongside elements from their national flags and the number “60,” symbolizing mutual trust, shared values, and enduring friendship.
