IMD: Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms, and Heatwave Across Multiple Indian States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms today across several regions, including Coastal and Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Odisha, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and the Northeastern states. These areas are advised to remain alert for possible disruptions due to intense weather activity.

Thunderstorms with Lightning and Gusty Winds

Over the next two days, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely in parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, and Madhya Maharashtra. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, especially in outdoor environments.

Heatwave Conditions to Grip Northern and Central India

The IMD has issued a heatwave warning for regions including Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh today. These areas are expected to see extremely high temperatures, potentially impacting health and daily activities.

Hot and Humid Conditions in Eastern Coastal Regions

In addition to heatwaves, hot and humid weather is likely to affect isolated areas in Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Gangetic West Bengal. The Met Department advises residents to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activities during peak heat hours.
