India Launches Operation Sindhu to Evacuate Citizens from Conflict-Hit Iran

Published on

India has initiated Operation Sindhu to evacuate its nationals from Iran, amid rising tensions and conflict between Iran and Israel. The operation began with the successful evacuation of 110 Indian students from northern Iran, who were safely transported across the border to Armenia. This move was coordinated by Indian missions in both Tehran and Yerevan.

The students later boarded a special flight from Yerevan to New Delhi, arriving in India as part of the first phase of the mission. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed gratitude to the governments of Iran and Armenia for their cooperation in the evacuation process.

Operation Sindhu is a part of India’s continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad. The Indian Embassy in Tehran is actively helping citizens move from conflict-prone areas to safer zones, with further evacuations planned through feasible transport routes.

Indians in Iran are urged to remain in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran or the 24×7 MEA Control Room in New Delhi through the following:
