The Asian Hockey Federation has officially released the Hockey Asia Cup 2025 schedule, confirming that the highly-anticipated India vs Pakistan encounter will not take place after former champions Pakistan pulled out of the tournament due to security concerns. Bangladesh will replace Pakistan in the eight-team event, which will be held from August 29 to September 7 in Rajgir, Bihar.

The tournament will also see Kazakhstan replacing Oman. India have been placed in Pool A along with China, Japan and Kazakhstan. Pool B comprises defending champions Korea, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh. The winners of this edition will earn direct qualification to the 2026 Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.

We are confident this edition will showcase thrilling competition, inspire millions of fans, and leave a lasting legacy for the sport in Asia,” he noted.

But now it is confirmed that Pakistan won’t be travelling to India due to security concerns,” the official told HT on condition of anonymity.
