Jaipur Bikaner Highway Tragedy: A deadly road accident rocked Rajasthan’s Sikar district late Tuesday night after a sleeper bus collided head-on with a truck on the Jaipur–Bikaner National Highway, leaving four people dead and at least 27 others injured. The bus was en route from Bikaner to Jaipur when the devastating crash occurred, triggering panic and chaos at the accident site.

Police confirmed that three victims died on the spot, while one critically injured passenger later succumbed during treatment after being referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals amid a large emergency response. Authorities said the collision was extremely forceful, leaving the bus badly mangled from the front.

Jaipur Bikaner Highway Accident Leaves Sikar in Shock

According to police officials, 15 injured passengers were admitted to the Sikar district hospital for treatment, while 13 others were given primary care at Fatehgarh. Several of the injured are undergoing observation for internal injuries, though most are reported to be in stable condition.

Rescue operations continued for hours as emergency teams worked to extract passengers trapped inside the damaged sleeper bus. Local residents also joined in to help move the injured before ambulances arrived at the scene.

Officials said the impact of the collision was so severe that traffic on the Jaipur–Bikaner stretch remained disrupted for a considerable period on Tuesday night.

Victims Were Returning After Jammu and Kashmir Trip

Police revealed that the group of passengers onboard the bus was returning to Gujarat after completing a visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The sudden accident turned what was meant to be a routine return journey into a tragic ordeal for dozens of families.

Jaipur Bikaner Highway Accident Triggers Probe Into Cause

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain whether speeding, driver fatigue, poor visibility, or mechanical failure played a role in the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that the bus and the truck crashed head-on, indicating the possibility that one of the vehicles may have entered the wrong lane.

Rising Concerns Over Nighttime Highway Safety in Rajasthan

This tragic crash has once again raised serious concerns over road safety on Rajasthan’s busy national highways, particularly during late-night travel. The Jaipur–Bikaner route witnesses heavy movement of buses, trucks and tourist vehicles, making it highly vulnerable to fatal accidents.

Authorities have reiterated the need for stricter enforcement of speed limits, regular vehicle fitness checks, and mandatory rest periods for long-distance drivers to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
