Kapil Sharma’s Surrey Café Shot at Again

Popular Indian comedian and actor Kapil Sharma is facing fresh security concerns after his Surrey-based café was shot at for the second time in less than a month, according to local media reports. The incident occurred early Thursday morning at Kap’s Café, located near the intersection of 85 Avenue and Scott Road in the Newton area of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.

Images and videos circulating on social media show shattered windows and multiple bullet holes at the premises, while police have cordoned off the area as investigations continue.

Gangster Group Claims Responsibility

A viral post allegedly linked to gangster Goldy Dhillon has claimed responsibility for the shooting on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Hindi-language message stated:

“Jai Shri Ram… aaj jo Kapil Sharma ke Kap’s Cafe, Surrey mein firing hui hai, iski zimmedari Goldy Dhillon te Lawrence Bishnoi gang leti hai… next karwai jald hi Mumbai mein karenge.”

(Translation: “Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi gang take responsibility for today’s firing at Kap’s Café in Surrey. The next action will soon take place in Mumbai.”)

While the message has gone viral, Canadian authorities have not officially verified the claim. The Surrey Police Service (SPS) has also not confirmed any gang involvement as of now.

This latest incident follows a similar attack in July 2025, just days after the café opened to the public. Gunshots were fired around 1:50 am, damaging windows and walls. Though no injuries were reported, the violence shocked the local community due to the café’s location in a mixed-use building with families, apartments, and a nearby daycare.

Police Investigation Ongoing

Surrey Police officials said the investigation is in its early stages, and they are reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing eyewitnesses. A prior statement by Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton, quoted in the Vancouver Sun, noted that possible links to Khalistani separatist groups were also being explored based on Indian media reports. However, no suspects have been publicly identified, and motives remain unclear.

“Connections to other incidents and potential motives are being examined,” said the SPS in a statement.

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information. Tips can be shared with the Surrey Police at 604-599-0502 or through Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
