The Nalco police successfully busted the much-discussed Nalco Colony murder case that occurred inside the NALCO colony of Angul district. Initially, the incident appeared to be a case of robbery, but investigators grew suspicious as inconsistencies began to surface during the inquiry. The case soon became a major challenge for the police due to the lack of immediate leads.

CCTV Footage Exposes Accused’s Disguise and Movements

A significant turning point in the investigation came when police closely analyzed CCTV footage from the colony and surrounding areas. The visuals revealed the accused entering the premises disguised as a plumber, a tactic used to avoid suspicion and gain access to the house.

Police later confirmed that Tapan Sahu had earlier proposed to the victim and, after being rejected, allegedly planned the murder. Investigators said he strangled Madhusmita with her veil and then attempted to stage the crime as a robbery by stealing her ornaments.

The accused was eventually arrested under a special drive named Operation Silent Cobra. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising three dedicated teams was formed to track the suspect, leading to multiple raids at different locations.

During interrogation, police recovered stolen gold earrings and a necklace belonging to the deceased. Officials said the recovery further strengthened the case against the accused and corroborated the sequence of events reconstructed through digital and forensic evidence.

Police Highlight Planned Nature of the Crime

Investigators stated that the murder was premeditated and carefully executed to mislead authorities. However, sustained monitoring, technical analysis, and coordinated teamwork helped the police close in on the accused.

With the arrest now made, the police have assured that the charge sheet will be filed promptly. The resolution of the case has brought relief to the victim’s family and residents of the NALCO colony, restoring faith in law enforcement efforts.
