Dubai: Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Noman Ali has achieved a career-best second position in the ICC Men’s Test Rankings, following a remarkable 10-wicket haul against South Africa in Lahore. With 853 points, he is now only 29 rating points behind India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah, who continues to lead the global Test bowling charts.

The Noman Ali ICC Test Rankings surge comes after Pakistan’s thrilling 93-run victory over South Africa. His exceptional performance — claiming five wickets in each innings — not only secured a series win but also propelled him four places higher in the latest rankings.

The 37-year-old spinner’s consistency and control have been pivotal in Pakistan’s recent Test success, as he becomes the highest-ranked Pakistani bowler in the ICC Test rankings since Yasir Shah’s rise in 2018.

It wasn’t just Noman Ali ICC Test Rankings that saw movement. Fellow left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi climbed three spots to 19th after his crucial four-wicket spell in the same match.

Among Pakistan’s batters, Mohammad Rizwan jumped four places to 16th, Babar Azam rose two places to 22nd, and Salman Agha made a major leap of eight spots to 30th. The Test batting list continues to be led by England’s veteran Joe Root.

Proteas Players Make Gains Despite Defeat

For South Africa, Ryan Rickelton’s gritty 71 in the first innings pushed him into the top 50 Test batters for the first time. Teammate Tony de Zorzi’s fighting century also helped him advance to 54th position.

Despite the loss, South Africa’s younger players have shown promise and consistency, keeping them competitive in the ICC rankings race.

In ODI and T20I formats, several players also improved their positions this week. Australia’s Mitchell Marsh climbed two places to 42nd in ODI batting after his Player of the Match performance against India in Perth. Josh Hazlewood moved up six spots to 10th and Mitchell Starc advanced to 21st among ODI bowlers.

India’s Mohammed Siraj re-entered the rankings at 17th, while Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz climbed six places to 18th after his strong showing against the West Indies.

England’s Harry Brook gained 18 spots to reach joint 20th in T20I batting, while Adil Rashid moved up to third among T20I bowlers following England’s series win over New Zealand in Christchurch.
