The recruitment drive aims to strengthen school education, particularly in tribal-dominated and remote areas where teachers and other educational staff are needed.

The 2,067 appointments comprise two categories of educational personnel.

A total of 1,913 candidates have been appointed as Sevak-Sevikas, while 154 have been selected as Tribal Language Teachers.

The Tribal Language Teachers will support mother-tongue-based education in tribal communities. The state government is currently providing school education in 10 tribal languages, including Santali.

Odisha Government Says 48,642 Jobs Provided Since June 2024

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the state government was committed to empowering young people through employment and skill development.

He stated that a total of 48,642 candidates had been provided government employment since the recruitment drive began in June 2024. The latest 2,067 appointments are included in this figure.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s efforts to strengthen the education sector, stating that 28,693 teachers had been recruited so far.

Focus on Tribal Education and Student Welfare

The Chief Minister highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving educational opportunities for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students, who together account for around 40 per cent of Odisha’s population.

He referred to the expansion of Eklavya Model Residential Schools to 69 institutions and the implementation of the Shaheed Madho Singh Hatakharcha Yojana to provide financial assistance to students and help prevent school dropouts.

He also mentioned the Bidesh Sikhyabruti Scheme, under which 50 meritorious students are supported to pursue higher education abroad every year.

CM Advises Newly Appointed Teachers to Serve with Dedication

Congratulating the newly appointed personnel, Majhi urged them to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students.

He advised teachers to guide children with care and compassion rather than relying on excessive strictness. He also emphasised discipline, punctuality, patience and dedication in government service.

The Chief Minister warned that irregularities in welfare programmes, including the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, would not be tolerated. He also cautioned against misconduct and inappropriate punishment of students.

He specifically appealed to newly appointed Sevak-Sevikas posted in flood-affected areas of southern Odisha to extend assistance to people affected by the floods.

ST & SC Development Minister Nityananda Gond described teaching as a noble profession and highlighted the role of educators in nation-building.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari also congratulated the newly appointed candidates, emphasising their responsibility in shaping the future of the next generation.
