Odisha: Bus accident in Rayagada, 23 people hospitalized, two serious

Rayagada: A vehicle ferrying them overturned at Mukundapur Ghat in Odisha’s Rayagada district, injuring up to 25 passengers and rendering two others critical. The car was traveling from Hinjilicut to Tikiri when it overturned due to a loss of balance on the hazardous terrain.

According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the accident on the ghat, a steep mountainous terrain distinctive of Rayagada. Local authorities stated that all injured passengers were immediately sent to Rayagada’s district headquarters hospital (DHH) for emergency medical care.

The event highlights the dangers of traversing twisting ghat roads, especially during the monsoon season when these paths may become particularly dangerous. Local officials are undertaking investigations to discover the exact cause of the incident and to strengthen safety measures for drivers on this section of road.
