The new centre is expected to significantly ease the visa application process for residents of Odisha. Until now, applicants were compelled to travel to metropolitan cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, or Hyderabad to complete international visa formalities, leading to additional time and financial burdens.

Officials stated that the decision was taken in response to a long-standing demand from the people of the state for a visa facility in Bhubaneswar.
