Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday approved the establishment of a Global Visa Application Centre in the state capital, Bhubaneswar marking a major step toward improving international travel services in the state.

According to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the proposed visa application centre will be set up at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bus Terminal located in Baramunda.The Odisha government will provide 3,000 square feet of space within the terminal building to house the facility.

The new centre is expected to significantly ease the visa application process for residents of Odisha. Until now, applicants were compelled to travel to metropolitan cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, or Hyderabad to complete international visa formalities, leading to additional time and financial burdens.

Officials stated that the decision was taken in response to a long-standing demand from the people of the state for a visa facility in Bhubaneswar. By approving the proposal, the Chief Minister has addressed a key public requirement and strengthened the city’s infrastructure for global connectivity.

Once operational, the Global Visa Application Centre is expected to benefit students, professionals, tourists, and business travelers, further positioning Bhubaneswar as an emerging international hub in eastern India.
