Dubai: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is leading a high-level delegation to the United Arab Emirates to attract new investments, technology partnerships and industrial projects to the state.
Majhi reached Abu Dhabi on Tuesday ahead of investor and business engagements scheduled from September 9 to 11. His four-day UAE visit will conclude on September 12.
The outreach covers meetings with investors, financial institutions, industry representatives and UAE government officials.
Odisha UAE Investment Outreach Focuses on Industry
The Odisha UAE investment outreach will begin in Abu Dhabi with meetings involving the International Holding Company (IHC), its business arms, the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG), the UAE Minister of Investment and other senior stakeholders.
The state is placing particular emphasis on the petrochemicals and chemicals sectors.
Discussions are also expected to cover:
- Industrial investment
- Technology cooperation
- Infrastructure development
- Trade opportunities
- Long-term business partnerships
- Employment generation
Odisha Highlights Ports, Resources and Infrastructure
Odisha plans to showcase its natural resources, industrial infrastructure and port connectivity as key advantages for investors.
The state’s investment pitch will also highlight competitive power availability, skilled manpower and access to domestic and international markets.
The government is seeking investments that can generate long-term economic activity rather than only securing initial expressions of interest.
UAE Roadshow to Continue in Dubai
After the Abu Dhabi engagements, the delegation will travel to Dubai for additional business meetings and an investment roadshow.
The state government is also looking to use the UAE outreach to strengthen economic engagement with the wider Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The focus will remain on identifying specific investment opportunities and developing partnerships involving technology, trade and industrial cooperation.
Mohan Charan Majhi Pushes Project Execution
For Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, attracting investment is only the first step. The government wants investor interest to translate into projects on the ground.
Majhi has emphasised trust, technology, value creation and employment as important elements of Odisha’s investment strategy.
He has also linked the UAE visit with the state’s broader efforts to improve the business environment through ease of doing business, investor confidence, supportive policies and faster project execution.
Odisha Seeks Global Investors
Before travelling to the UAE, Majhi said Odisha aims to become a preferred destination for investors.
The government is seeking to strengthen the state’s position as a global business destination while creating employment opportunities and encouraging industrial growth.
Odia Diaspora Also on UAE Visit Agenda
The UAE visit also includes engagement with the Odia community living and working in the region.
After arriving in Abu Dhabi, Majhi met the Ambassador of India to the UAE to discuss stronger economic and people-to-people relations between India and the UAE.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of supporting Odias residing in the UAE and described the community as an important bridge between Odisha and the region.
Senior Odisha Officials Join Delegation
The delegation accompanying the Chief Minister includes:
- Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain
- Chief Secretary Anu Garg
- Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department Hemant Sharma
- Senior officials from the Industries Department
- Officials from IPICOL
UAE government representatives, industry groups and Indian Embassy officials received the delegation after its arrival in Abu Dhabi.
What Odisha Wants From the UAE Visit
The three-day investor engagement programme is aimed at moving beyond general investment interest.
The state is seeking concrete industrial projects, technology transfer, trade opportunities and long-term partnerships that can contribute to Odisha’s economic growth and employment generation.
With engagements continuing through September 11 and the UAE visit concluding on September 12, the government is using the outreach to strengthen Odisha’s presence among investors in the UAE and the wider MENA region.
