The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued orange alerts across several districts of Odisha—including Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Koraput—forecasting heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The alert remains in force through August 14, with fishermen cautioned to steer clear of the rough Bay of Bengal waters.

The IMD has issued orange warnings for Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Koraput, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 30–40 km/h from August 12 to 14.
With the developing low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, fishermen are strongly advised not to venture into deep sea areas off southern Odisha due to the threat of rough seas and squally conditions.
