Pakistan’s Haider Ali Suspended Probe in England

Published on

Manchester: Pakistan cricketer Haider Ali has been suspended with immediate effect as he faces a criminal investigation in England linked to the Haider Ali rape case. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the probe, which stems from an alleged incident during the Pakistan Shaheens’ recent tour of England.

Haider Ali Rape Case Under Police Investigation in Manchester

Greater Manchester Police said they received a report of rape on Monday, August 4, 2025, and arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the case. The alleged incident took place on July 23, 2025, at a premises in Manchester.

The suspect has since been released on bail pending further inquiries. As per standard UK police protocol, the individual’s name has not been officially released at this stage.

PCB Suspends Haider Ali Pending Legal Proceedings

The PCB announced that Ali’s suspension is “effective immediately” and will remain in place until the investigation concludes. It added that it respects UK legal procedures and will allow the process to run its due course.

Ali has represented Pakistan in two ODIs and 35 T20 internationals since his debut in 2020. The PCB stated that the player has been given appropriate legal support during the ongoing investigation.

“Once legal proceedings are concluded and facts established, the PCB may take action under its Code of Conduct if necessary,” the board said.

The Pakistan Shaheens, the country’s second-tier national side, began their 15-day England tour on July 22, 2025. The alleged incident reportedly occurred a day after the tour started.
