New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on Sunday, October 25, 2026, to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) newly established Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar.
The inauguration, scheduled for around 4:45 PM, is part of the Prime Minister’s visit to Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. The new facilities are designed to strengthen the technological infrastructure supporting India’s financial system, including critical payment and settlement operations.
Earlier in the day, Modi will inaugurate a garment manufacturing facility in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and attend an Indian Air Force aerial display commemorating the force’s 94th anniversary.
RBI Data Centre in Bhubaneswar to Strengthen Financial Infrastructure
The new RBI facility is designed to provide secure, reliable and scalable computing infrastructure for the central bank and the wider financial sector.
It will support critical financial systems and help strengthen data management, operational resilience and the continuity of essential banking services.
According to the official announcement, the complex includes four state-of-the-art data centres that will host mission-critical payment and settlement systems alongside other important RBI initiatives.
The facility has received Uptime Institute Tier IV certification, a recognised benchmark for high levels of data centre infrastructure resilience. It is also among the largest Tier IV-certified facilities in the global banking, financial services and insurance sector.
The project is expected to support the growing technological requirements of India’s increasingly digital financial economy.
Cybersecurity Training Institute to Focus on Emerging Technologies
Alongside the data centre, the RBI’s Cybersecurity Training Institute will provide a dedicated platform for training, research and capability development.
The institute will focus on cybersecurity and enterprise technology across the banking, financial services and insurance sector.
Its areas of focus will include artificial intelligence, quantum computing and other emerging technologies relevant to financial services.
The facility is intended to strengthen the sector’s ability to respond to evolving technological challenges and improve expertise in securing digital financial systems.
PM Modi’s Varanasi Visit: Garment Manufacturing Facility
Before travelling to Odisha, Modi will inaugurate a new garment manufacturing facility operated by Arvind Limited in Varanasi at around 11 AM.
The facility is expected to strengthen India’s textile and apparel manufacturing ecosystem and contribute to industrial development in the region.
The project will use modern manufacturing practices and is expected to generate employment opportunities, particularly for women. With access to an established global customer base, the facility will also connect garments manufactured in Varanasi with international markets.
The initiative forms part of efforts to expand manufacturing activity and support women-led economic development.
Air Force Day Aerial Display at Namo Ghat
At around 1 PM, the Prime Minister will attend the Air Force Day Aerial Display-2026 at Namo Ghat in Varanasi as the chief guest.
The programme will commemorate the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force under the theme Wings over Ganges.
The aerial display is expected to feature aircraft including the Tejas, Rafale, SU-30MKI and Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, alongside transport aircraft.
Aircraft from the Indian Navy and the Indian Army will also participate. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and Sarang Helicopter Display Team are scheduled to demonstrate coordinated flying and aerial manoeuvres.
Why the RBI Project Matters for Odisha
The inauguration places Bhubaneswar among the locations hosting important financial technology infrastructure.
The data centre is designed to support the reliability and continuity of critical financial services, while the cybersecurity institute will contribute to training and research in emerging technologies.
These facilities could strengthen the technological ecosystem supporting India’s banking sector. Their long-term impact will depend on how effectively the infrastructure and training programmes are used.
The project also adds to Odisha’s role in hosting national-level technology and institutional infrastructure.
