PM Modi inaugurates MPs flats built with sustainable and inclusive design
The project incorporates several environmentally sustainable measures, including energy conservation systems, renewable energy generation, and advanced waste management solutions. Using monolithic concrete with aluminium shuttering technology, the construction was completed within schedule while ensuring structural durability.
Designed to be Divyangjan-friendly, the flats demonstrate a commitment to accessibility and inclusive design. Each unit offers spacious interiors suitable for both residential and official purposes. Dedicated spaces for offices, staff quarters, and a community centre will help MPs manage their parliamentary duties efficiently.
From a safety standpoint, the buildings are earthquake-resistant and comply with modern structural design norms. A robust security infrastructure has also been implemented to ensure the safety of all residents.
Why the new housing project is crucial
According to the government, the development of the BKS Marg housing project was necessary due to a shortage of adequate accommodation for MPs. Given the limited availability of land, the project emphasises vertical housing to optimise land use and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
Its location near the Parliament House complex offers MPs significant convenience, enabling easier access for legislative work and parliamentary sessions. With this project, the government aims to provide MPs with a modern, sustainable, and strategically located living space that supports their role as public representatives.
