Bhubaneswar: Puri Srimandir Darshan Restricted for 5 Hours Today for Khasapada Lagi Niti Ritual

Devotees will be restricted from darshan at Puri Srimandir today from 5 PM to 10 PM due to the Khasapada Lagi Niti ritual. As per the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), this sacred and secretive ritual is conducted twice a year—after Rath Yatra and Holi celebrations—to protect the sacred bodies of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra from environmental exposure.

Performed by the Daitapati servitors, the ritual takes place after the second bhoga offering at the Bhoga Mandap. It ensures the well-being of the sibling deities, as their bodies endure exposure to sun, rain, and environmental factors during major festivals. Additionally, after Gundicha Yatra, Lord Sudarshan also undergoes this preservation ritual.

During this period, no devotees will be allowed inside Srimandir for darshan, maintaining the sanctity of this age-old tradition.
