Rohit-Kohli Masterclass Guides India to Victory, Australia Clinch Series 2-1

Published on

Sydney: In a batting masterclass at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli powered India to a commanding nine-wicket victory over Australia in the third and final ODI, chasing down a target of 237 with elegance, authority, and composure.

Although Australia sealed the series 2-1, the contest belonged to India’s iconic duo, who reminded the cricketing world why they are still among the best in the business.

Rohit and Kohli Steer India Home

After Shubman Gill gave India a brisk start with 24 runs, falling to Josh Hazlewood, Rohit and Kohli took full control of the chase. The pair stitched together an unbeaten 168-run partnership, showcasing a perfect blend of aggression and artistry.

Rohit, under pressure to deliver, played a captain’s knock, scoring his 33rd ODI century in sublime fashion. His innings featured trademark pull shots, exquisite drives, and calculated aggression, including a massive six over mid-wicket off Adam Zampa.

Kohli, at the other end, was equally brilliant, remaining unbeaten on 74. His wristy flicks, intelligent strike rotation, and graceful strokeplay perfectly complemented Rohit’s power. The two legends guided India to victory in just 38.3 overs, sealing the chase with style.

Harshit Rana Shines with the Ball

Earlier, Australia managed 236 runs, with Mitchell Marsh (41) and Travis Head (29) offering resistance. Young Indian pacer Harshit Rana impressed with figures of 4/39, dismissing key batters including Alex Carey and Josh Hazlewood.

Support came from Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, and Washington Sundar, who maintained consistent pressure to restrict the hosts.

A Memorable Finish Despite Series Loss

Though India lost the series 2-1, the match was a showcase of cricketing excellence. The SCG crowd witnessed a perfect blend of technique, temperament, and timing as Rohit and Kohli turned the chase into a lesson in controlled domination.

Their final embrace at the crease symbolized not just victory but the enduring brilliance of two of India’s finest modern-day cricketers.
