RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Emphasizes Self-Reliance in Defence Amid Changing Nature of Warfare
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday highlighted the urgent need for India to become self-reliant in the defence sector, citing the evolving nature of warfare including proxy wars and cyber attacks.
Addressing the valedictory function of the Karyakarta Vikas Varg-2 in Reshimbag, Nagpur, Dr. Bhagwat said that while the armed forces and government are performing their responsibilities diligently, the real strength of the nation lies within society itself.
Unity and Harmony: Cornerstones of National Strength
Dr. Bhagwat urged people to stay vigilant against divisive forces, warning society not to fall into the trap of victimhood narratives and hate speeches. He stressed that social harmony, cooperation, and mutual respect are vital for building a strong and unified nation.
“The tribal society is not separate—it forms the base of our civilization,” he said, underscoring the inclusive ethos of Indian heritage.
He also praised the Karyakarta Vikas Varg training camp, held annually since 1927, for cultivating character and commitment among volunteers.
Aravind Netam Advocates Law Against Forced Conversions
Former Union Minister and tribal leader Aravind Netam, who was the chief guest at the event, called for the enactment of a stringent law to curb forced religious conversions. He also emphasized the need for inclusive dialogue with all stakeholders on this sensitive issue.
