S. Jaishankar Rebukes Rahul Gandhi Over Comments on Trump’s Remarks About PM Modi

Published on

A heated political exchange unfolded on X (formerly Twitter) after Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not responding to Donald Trump’s recent remarks in South Korea. The Congress leader accused the Prime Minister of being silent in the face of what he described as repeated “insults” from Trump.

Rahul Gandhi Targets PM Modi Over Trump’s Comments

In his post, Rahul Gandhi stated that Donald Trump was “insulting Modi in country after country” and cited the former US President’s claim that he had used trade to pressure Modi into stopping “Operation Sindoor.” Gandhi urged, “Don’t be scared Modi ji, find the courage to respond.”

S. Jaishankar Defends Modi, Calls Out Rahul Gandhi’s Ignorance

Responding sharply, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar criticized Rahul Gandhi for what he called a lack of understanding of international affairs. He remarked that the Indian government had already responded to Trump’s agenda-driven statements and said it was “not surprising” to see Rahul Gandhi “show his ignorance in glorious display.”

Minister Reminds Congress of Its Lost Legacy

In his statement, Jaishankar lamented that a party once led by “intellectuals like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, and KM Munshi” had now, in his words, been reduced to behaving like “an adamant child incapable of accepting what is not in its favor.” He also cited previous issues such as Rafale and Galwan to highlight Gandhi’s “slow grasp of world affairs.”

Political Battle Over Foreign Policy Intensifies

The exchange has further intensified the ongoing political tussle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, with both sides using Trump’s remarks to shape their narratives. As the debate grows, India’s foreign policy stance continues to be a central talking point in national politics.
