Second Batch of NAKSHA Phase 2 Training Inaugurated to Empower Urban Officers with Geospatial Skills

The second batch of Phase 2 of the National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) Capacity Building Programme is being inaugurated today. The programme, aimed at strengthening urban land governance through advanced technology, will train 128 officers from Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and district administrations.

Officers to Receive Practical Training Across Four Centres

The nominated officers will undergo a week-long, hands-on training session at four Centres of Excellence located in Pune, Guwahati, Chandigarh, and Mysuru. The training is designed to help them effectively utilize cutting-edge geospatial technologies for accurate urban property surveys.

Virtual Inauguration by Land Resources Secretary

The inauguration will be conducted virtually by Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, Manoj Joshi. The programme is being coordinated by the Ministry of Rural Development, which emphasized the critical role of geospatial technology in modernizing urban land records and property mapping.

This initiative under the NAKSHA programme aims to enhance technical proficiency among ULB officers and field staff. The training will cover practical applications of GIS, drone surveying, digital mapping, and data management to support precise urban land surveys.

By building the capacity of local and district-level officers, the government seeks to streamline urban land management and ensure transparency in property-related data. The NAKSHA programme is a vital step towards integrating technology in urban planning and administration.
