Published on

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will today distribute crop insurance claims worth over ₹3,200 crore to more than 30 lakh farmers during an event in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare said the payments will be directly credited to farmers’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Breakdown of Crop Insurance Claims by State

Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), farmers in Madhya Pradesh will receive ₹1,156 crore, Rajasthan farmers ₹1,121 crore, Chhattisgarh farmers ₹150 crore, and farmers in other states ₹773 crore. These amounts will be transferred instantly via digital platforms, ensuring transparency and speed in disbursal.

The event will see large participation from farmers in Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Kotputli-Behror, and other Rajasthan districts, while lakhs of farmers from across India will join virtually.

According to the Agriculture Ministry, the PMFBY has, since its 2016 launch, covered over 78 crore farmer applications and disbursed crop insurance claims worth ₹1.83 lakh crore. This comes against a total farmer-paid premium of ₹35,864 crore, highlighting the scheme’s role in providing financial security to the agricultural community.
