Tejashwi Yadav Gets EC Notice Over Alleged Possession of Two Voter ID Cards

Published on

The Election Commission has once again served a notice to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, this time over allegations of possessing two voter ID cards. The move follows a press conference on August 2, where Yadav displayed a voter ID (EPIC) card that, according to the Commission, was never officially issued.

Yadav, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, presented the card before journalists in Patna. However, the Commission later clarified that the card in question was not listed in their database.

Tejashwi Yadav Voter ID Controversy Sparks Political Accusations

As part of the ongoing Tejashwi Yadav voter ID controversy, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) from Digha Assembly constituency had earlier sent a letter on August 3 demanding the original voter ID and related documents for verification. However, no reply has been received from Tejashwi Yadav so far.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has accused the Election Commission of acting under pressure from the BJP, claiming the issue is being politicized. Yadav has countered by urging the Commission to first address the party’s concerns about the recent Special Summary Revision (SSR) process.

Meanwhile, five days after the draft electoral roll was released on August 1, no political party has filed claims or objections regarding the removal of voters’ names, raising further questions about political engagement in the revision process.
