US President Donald Trump said the ongoing conflict with Iran could end soon, while issuing a strong warning that any retaliation by Tehran would trigger a harsher response.

Speaking at a news conference in Florida on Tuesday, Trump described the conflict as a “short term excursion” and suggested the situation may soon stabilise after recent military operations.

“It’s going to be ended soon,” he said, adding that if the fighting resumes the United States would respond with even greater force.

Trump cautioned Iranian leaders against attempting retaliation or escalation.

“If they try anything cute, it will be the end of that country,” he said during a separate interview, claiming that Iran had already used most of its military capabilities during the conflict.

The US leader argued that recent strikes by the United States and Israel had significantly weakened Iran’s defence infrastructure.

“They have no navy, no communications, and no air force,” Trump said, describing the military campaign as largely successful.

Trump also claimed that American and allied forces had destroyed a large portion of Iran’s missile infrastructure.

According to the president, around 80 percent of missile launchers had been eliminated during the strikes launched since February 28.

He argued that the operation prevented what he described as an imminent attack by Iran on the Middle East and Israel.

“If we didn’t go in, they would have come in after us within a week,” he said.

Diplomatic uncertainty despite war rhetoric

Despite Trump’s remarks suggesting the conflict may end soon, US officials have continued to signal a hard line.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Pentagon said on social media that the United States had “only just begun to fight.”

The mixed messaging reflects uncertainty about how quickly tensions between Washington and Tehran could de-escalate.

What happens next in the Iran conflict

Trump had previously insisted that Iran’s “unconditional surrender” would be the only acceptable outcome to end the conflict.

His latest comments mark the first time he suggested the war might soon conclude, although no clear timeline or diplomatic pathway has been outlined.

With tensions still high across the Middle East, analysts say the next phase will depend on whether Iran responds militarily or diplomatic channels reopen.

Trump’s statement that the Iran war could end soon signals confidence in the outcome of US Israeli strikes. However, continued warnings to Tehran and ongoing military messaging suggest the conflict remains volatile, with escalation still possible if tensions rise again.
