TV Actor Couple Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma Booked by Goa Police for Alleged Abduction

In a serious development, the Goa Police have registered an FIR against television actor couple Puja Banerjee and Kunal Verma for their alleged involvement in the abduction and extortion of Bengali filmmaker Shyam Sunder Dey, officials confirmed on Saturday.

FIR Transferred From Kolkata to Goa

The case initially began with a complaint lodged by the filmmaker’s wife, Malabika Dey, at Panache Police Station in Kolkata on June 12. Following preliminary investigations, the case was transferred to the Calangute Police Station in North Goa, as the alleged incident reportedly occurred within their jurisdiction.

Actor Couple and Others Charged With Serious Offences

Apart from Banerjee and Verma, the police have also named Piyush Kothari and other unidentified individuals in the FIR. They face serious charges, including kidnapping, physical assault, and extortion, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Investigation Underway in High-Profile Case

The incident has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of well-known television personalities. The Goa Police are currently investigating the matter, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
