A disturbing incident in Ghaziabad’s upscale Amrapali Village Society has sparked outrage after a domestic help was bitten by a pet dog while waiting for a lift on Tuesday evening. The attack, which took place in Indirapuram, was captured on a CCTV camera and shows the woman crying in pain as the dog pounced on her in full view of its owners, who provided no immediate assistance.
The victim has been identified as Kalpana, a domestic worker employed in CM Tower of the society. The dog belongs to a resident of the same tower.
Ghaziabad Pet Dog Attack – Incident Captured on CCTV
The Ghaziabad pet dog attack occurred at around 7:13 pm when a man and an elderly woman entered the lift with their pet dog. CCTV footage shows the elderly woman appearing to slap the dog just before the lift doors open. As soon as the door opens on another floor, the dog lunges at Kalpana, who was standing outside waiting to board the lift. The dog bites her and then briefly runs toward the staircase before returning to the lift.
No Immediate Help From Dog Owner
Shockingly, the man re-enters the lift with the dog without offering any help to the injured woman. The woman in the lift appears to scold and hit the dog again as the lift doors close. Meanwhile, Kalpana is seen limping and crying in pain outside the lift lobby. A neighbour steps out after hearing her cries and barking sounds, but the dog owner had already left the scene.

In a second CCTV clip, the Ghaziabad pet dog attack victim can be seen struggling to walk as she presses her thigh and boards another lift. She appears visibly shaken and continues to groan in pain, still holding her phone and slippers.
Incident Sparks Concern Amid NCR Debate on Stray Dogs
The troubling incident comes at a time when the Supreme Court’s decision to relocate stray dogs in the Delhi-NCR region has already ignited public debate over animal safety and responsibility. Local residents have demanded stricter enforcement of guidelines for pet owners living in residential societies, particularly in regard to aggressive behaviour from pets in public areas.
