Nanded Honour Killing Case: Woman Marries Slain Lover’s Body, Demands Death Penalty for Kin
A chilling incident from Maharashtra’s Nanded district has stirred massive public outrage after a 21-year-old woman symbolically married the body of her boyfriend, who was allegedly murdered by her own family in what appears to be an honour killing. The emotional act by Aanchal Mamidwar went viral across social platforms as she openly demanded the harshest punishment for her father and two brothers, accused of killing her 20-year-old partner, Saksham Tate.

Police reports state that Saksham Tate was standing with his friends in the old Ganj locality on Thursday evening when an argument broke out between him and Aanchal’s brother, Himesh Mamidwar. During the confrontation, Himesh allegedly shot Saksham, the bullet striking his ribs. He then reportedly smashed a tile on his head, leading to Saksham’s immediate death. Officers arrested Himesh, his brother Sahil (25), and their father Gajanan Mamidwar (45) shortly after the incident.
Woman’s Heartbreaking “Wedding” Adds New Twist to Nanded Honour Killing Case
On Friday evening, overwhelmed with grief, Aanchal reached Saksham’s residence where preparations were underway for his funeral. Witnesses said she performed a symbolic wedding ritual with his lifeless body, stating that this would immortalise their relationship. Speaking to media later, she urged authorities to award capital punishment to her father and brothers, claiming they had long threatened to kill Saksham because of caste-related objections.
Woman Reveals Years of Relationship and Family Pressure
Aanchal told reporters she had been in love with Saksham for three years, but her family consistently opposed the relationship. She said her father and brothers repeatedly warned them against meeting each other and eventually carried out their threats. She declared she would now stay in Saksham’s house to honour their bond.
Police Arrest Six People Under Multiple Criminal Charges
Police revealed that both Saksham and the prime accused Himesh had criminal records and were once close friends. Despite the family’s objections, the couple continued their relationship, which investigators believe ultimately led to the fatal confrontation. Six individuals have been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the Arms Act, and other relevant sections. The arrested accused have been remanded to police custody for three days as further investigations continue.
