  • UAE and Bahrain have agreed to join a US-proposed Gaza Board of Peace.
  • The initiative is linked to President Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.
  • The board will focus on post-war reconstruction, aid and governance.

New Delhi| The proposed Gaza Board of Peace has gained early regional backing after the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain accepted invitations from Donald Trump to join the US-led initiative aimed at ending the Gaza conflict and steering post-war reconstruction. The move signals growing alignment among key US partners in the Gulf around Washington’s roadmap for stabilising Gaza.

The board is expected to form a core pillar of the second phase of the US peace plan, with a focus on rebuilding infrastructure, humanitarian relief and governance frameworks.

UAE Endorses US Peace Plan

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan accepted the invitation, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan confirmed on Tuesday.

He said Abu Dhabi’s decision reflects its support for the full implementation of President Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza, which he described as critical to safeguarding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The UAE, he added, has confidence in Trump’s leadership and commitment to global peace.

UAE Signals Active Role

Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE is prepared to play an active role in the Board of Peace, contributing to cooperation, reconstruction and long-term regional stability. He stressed that the initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader vision of promoting peace and prosperity across the Middle East.

Officials indicated that the UAE’s participation would include diplomatic engagement and support for humanitarian and reconstruction efforts.

Bahrain Formally Joins Initiative

Bahrain also formally accepted the invitation on January 20, with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa confirming the kingdom’s participation. Bahrain’s foreign ministry said joining the board aligns with its backing of the US peace plan and its commitment to promoting stability in Gaza and the wider region.

The decision comes at a significant diplomatic moment for Bahrain, as it prepares to begin a two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2026–2027.

Focus on Reconstruction and Governance

According to officials, the Gaza Board of Peace will play a central role in coordinating reconstruction efforts, humanitarian assistance and governance mechanisms once active hostilities end. The board is expected to bring together regional partners to support implementation on the ground under US leadership.

With UAE and Bahrain on board, the initiative marks an early step toward building a multinational framework to shape Gaza’s post-conflict future, though its effectiveness will depend on broader regional and international buy-in.
