Actor Esha Gupta has safely returned to India after being stranded in the United Arab Emirates during escalating military tensions in West Asia. The actress shared a personal account of the fear and confusion that unfolded when airport operations were abruptly halted following reports of missile strikes in the region.

In a social media post, Gupta thanked the Indian government and UAE authorities for their support, calling her safe return a blessing.

Airport shutdown amid missile strike reports

Gupta revealed she was at Abu Dhabi International Airport on February 28 when chaos broke out.

“By 1 pm, the airport was closed amid chaos all around as none of us knew what happened. Then the news started coming of the missile attack,” she wrote.

She said airport staff and security remained calm despite the uncertainty. Since she had not completed check in, she decided to leave and return to her hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Flights disrupted across India

The tension has also impacted Indian aviation. Delhi International Airport Limited confirmed delays and schedule adjustments for several westbound international flights from Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Passengers were advised to check with airlines before travelling due to changing airspace restrictions linked to the ongoing conflict.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said Indian carriers have adjusted routes for long haul operations, avoiding restricted airspace while gradually resuming services. Authorities are also working on arrangements to assist stranded passengers.

Conflict escalation heightens travel risks

The aviation disruptions follow US and Israeli strikes in Iran that resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, triggering retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the region.

Iran reportedly launched strikes targeting US assets and regional allies, including Israel, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, and the UAE.

The widening conflict has created uncertainty for civilians and expatriates, with airspace closures and military escalations affecting international travel corridors.
