BHUBANESWAR: Odisha has set an ambitious target of adding nearly 11 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030, reinforcing its position as one of India’s emerging clean energy hubs. Speaking at a conference organised by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said the state is accelerating its energy transition while expanding industrial infrastructure to support sustainable economic growth.

He described Odisha as a power-surplus state and said the government’s long-term strategy aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Purvodaya vision for accelerating development across eastern India.

Odisha Renewable Energy Push Backed by Major Investments

Addressing industry leaders, Singh Deo said Odisha is leveraging an investment pipeline worth ₹10 lakh crore to create long-term demand for advanced electrical equipment and modern transmission infrastructure.

The state plans to strengthen its electricity network through:

Smart grid technology
Digital substations
AI-enabled asset management
Advanced transmission systems
Cyber-secure power infrastructure

The Deputy Chief Minister also advocated extending industrial incentives to the energy sector to support the development of a resilient and future-ready power ecosystem.

Odisha Invites Global Manufacturers

Highlighting Odisha’s strategic location in eastern India and its strong port connectivity, Singh Deo invited domestic and international manufacturers to establish production facilities in the state.

He said companies manufacturing transformers, electrical equipment and smart power components would benefit from efficient connectivity to eastern, northeastern and international markets.

Calling on investors, he urged them to “Manufacture in Odisha, Innovate in Odisha and Grow with Odisha,” assuring them of stable policies, transparent governance and active government support.

Focus on Green Manufacturing and Energy Infrastructure

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said Odisha’s industrial ecosystem, plug-and-play infrastructure and investor-friendly policies make the state an attractive destination for clean energy manufacturing and high-technology equipment suppliers.
