AICTE releases Approval Process Handbook for Academic Year 2024-2027
New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) launched the Approval Process Handbook for the academic years 2024-2027 on Wednesday, chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam along with Vice Chairman Dr. Abhay Jere and Member Secretary Prof. Rajive Kumar.
The AICTE Chairman, Professor TG Sitharam, spoke to the media about changes to the handbook that will focus the quality of education, expedite processes, and guarantee transparent implementation.
In a media briefing, AICTE Chairman Professor TG Sitharam talked about handbook revisions that put an emphasis on high-quality education, simplify processes, and guarantee transparent execution. AICTE requested comments and views after releasing the revised APH’s draft into the public domain for the first time. An expert committee received over 600 recommendations, reviewed them, and included the best ones in the final document.
Prof. Sitharam also discussed the new sections and changes made to the Approval Process Handbook this year, emphasizing the importance of education quality, process simplification, and implementation openness.
Additionally, he mentioned that AICTE had made the revised APH draft available to the public for the first time in order to get input and suggestions from a range of professionals and stakeholders. Various stakeholders submitted more than 600 comments and ideas, which were assessed by a team of experts. A large number of the suggestions were included in the final text.
New changes introduced in the APH 2024-27
- Allows for three-year approval extensions for institutions that perform well.
- The maximum enrollment limit for courses and programs offered by reputable, already-existing institutions has been loosened. Before applying for admission, institutions must, however, demonstrate their superior faculty and infrastructure.
- Reduced the number of compliances with the land document requirements and the NOC from the UT, State, and affiliated universities.
- Approved an off-campus option for successful current colleges under the auspices of affiliating universities.
- To guarantee coordinated development in technical and management education, undergraduate programs/courses in computer applications (e.g., BCA) and management (e.g., BBA/BMS) have been merged under the auspices of AICTE.
- Support of employed individuals or working professionals to enhance their academic qualifications and skill sets at the diploma, degree, or postgraduate levels via flexible scheduling.
- Hibernation is available to institutions seeking to upgrade or remodel their infrastructure.
- Greater clarification regarding the Online Learning (OL) and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) approval process
- Every AICTE-approved institution has default approval for skilling students through vocational courses by efficiently utilizing the facilities, infrastructure, and human resources already in place.
- A major emphasis on innovation, as seen by the creation of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) on campus and the INDOVATION program.
Better quality will be made possible by the new AICTE approval requirement for institutions offering BCA and BBA/BMS courses. This will include access to model curricula, faculty participation in FDPs through ATAL Academy, funding for faculty through the Research Promotion Scheme, funding for faculty through the Quality Improvement Programme, free access to all technical books, access to the Students Assessment Portal (PARAKH), and internship and placement opportunities for students through the AICTE’s Internship and Placement portal.
