Nitin Gadkari Launches ₹3,000 FASTag Annual Pass for Highway Travel from August 15

Published on

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced a new FASTag-based annual pass priced at ₹3,000, aimed at providing hassle-free highway travel for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. The initiative is designed to streamline toll payments, reduce congestion, and offer a cost-effective travel solution across India’s national highway network.

Starting August 15, 2025, the annual pass will be valid for one year or 200 trips, whichever comes earlier. Each passage through a toll plaza will be counted as one trip.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gadkari stated, “This is a transformative step towards seamless travel on highways and resolves long-standing concerns about toll plazas, especially those located within a 60 km radius.” The move is expected to significantly cut waiting time, minimize toll disputes, and simplify the payment process with a single affordable transaction.

The FASTag Annual Pass will be made available through a dedicated link on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

FASTag is an RFID-based electronic toll collection system, managed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and NHAI. Once installed on a vehicle’s windscreen, it enables automatic toll deductions from a linked account or prepaid wallet as the vehicle crosses a toll plaza.
