Operation Sindhu: 110 Indian Students Evacuated Iran, Arrive Safely in New Delhi

Published on

In a major development under Operation Sindhu, a special flight carrying 110 Indian students evacuated from northern Iran landed safely in New Delhi in the early hours today. The evacuation comes in the wake of the intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel, prompting India to initiate emergency repatriation efforts.

Operation Sindhu Launched for Emergency Evacuation

India launched Operation Sindhu to prioritize the safety of its citizens amidst rising hostilities in the region. As part of the first phase, the Indian Embassy in Tehran coordinated the evacuation of the students from northern Iran. With diplomatic assistance, they were escorted overland to Yerevan, Armenia, on June 17.

Special Flight Brings Students to Delhi from Yerevan

After reaching the Armenian capital, the students boarded a special evacuation flight yesterday afternoon. They landed in Delhi early this morning, completing a complex yet successful cross-border evacuation. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) thanked both the Iranian and Armenian governments for their crucial support.

Amaan Nazar, an MBBS student in Tehran, highlighted the challenges faced during the evacuation process.
Zehran Butt and T Islam, students from Jammu and Kashmir, expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the Indian government and the External Affairs Ministry for ensuring their safety and providing timely assistance.
