Salman Khan Calls ‘Battle of Galwan’ His Most Physically Demanding Role Yet
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is gearing up for his upcoming patriotic action film, ‘Battle of Galwan’, based on the intense 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is set to hit theatres in January, departing from Salman’s usual Eid release tradition.
Salman Khan on the Physical Challenges of the Role
Speaking about the film, Salman revealed that his role in Battle of Galwan is one of the most physically demanding of his career.
“It is physically demanding. Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I have to give more time now,” Salman told PTI. “Earlier, I would manage in a week or two, but now I’m running, kicking, punching… this film demands that.”
He contrasted the action in Battle of Galwan with his recent movie Sikandar, saying, “In Sikandar, the action was different, the character was different. But this is physically difficult—especially shooting in Ladakh, at high altitudes and in cold water.”
Filming in Harsh Terrain and Cold Water
Salman admitted he was initially excited about the concept, but acknowledged the tough shooting conditions that lie ahead.
“I have 20 days in Ladakh and then seven to eight days in cold water. We will be shooting this month,” he shared.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan Sequel in Development
Adding to fans’ excitement, Salman also confirmed that a sequel to his 2015 blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan is currently in development, though details remain under wraps.
‘Sikandar’ Fails to Impress at the Box Office
Salman’s most recent film, Sikandar, released during Eid on March 30, failed to meet box office expectations. Despite strong pre-release buzz and a star-studded cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, and others, the film received a lukewarm response from audiences.
