Over 99% Voter Coverage Achieved in Bihar Under Special Intensive Revision: EC
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that over 99% of electors in Bihar have been covered under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative. The drive aims to cleanse and update the electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
Untraceable and Duplicated Voter Entries Identified
As per statements from local Booth Level Officers (BLOs), approximately one lakh electors remain untraceable. Additionally, the EC reported that:
- 21.6 lakh electors have been marked as deceased,
- 31.5 lakh electors have permanently migrated, and
- 7 lakh voters were found enrolled at multiple locations.
Despite door-to-door verification efforts, forms from nearly 7 lakh electors are still pending submission.
Draft Electoral Roll to Be Published on August 1
The Draft Electoral Roll will be released on August 1, allowing the public to review and verify the updated voter list.
Claims and Objections Open Till September 1
The Election Commission reiterated that electors or political parties can file claims or raise objections regarding missing names or incorrect entries in the voter list until September 1, 2025.
This exercise is a crucial part of the EC’s initiative to ensure a clean, accurate, and inclusive electoral roll for the state of Bihar.
