New Delhi: During a heated Lok Sabha discussion on Operation Sindoor, BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda strongly defended the government’s military action, describing it as a defining example of the Modi Doctrine. Representing Kendrapara, Odisha, Panda emphasized that the operation was not just a counter-attack, but a decisive signal of India’s evolved security policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“New Normal in Fight Against Terrorism,” Says Panda
In his speech, Panda stated,
“India extended a hand of peace time and again, but Pakistan responded with bloodshed. Now, India’s approach has changed. A new normal has been established in the fight against terrorism.”
This marked a strong endorsement of the Modi Doctrine Operation Sindoor, suggesting it reflects a shift from passive diplomacy to proactive defense, especially in the context of cross-border terrorism.
Panda Criticizes Congress for Historical Compromises
Baijayant Panda also took aim at Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, who had earlier referred to the government’s action as a “surrender.” In response, Panda highlighted several national security issues that occurred during Congress-led regimes:
- PoK and Aksai Chin territorial losses
- India’s stalled bid for a permanent seat at the UN Security Council
- Past diplomatic concessions viewed as compromises of national interest
Panda’s remarks were aimed at reinforcing the contrast between the Modi government’s assertive strategy and the Congress party’s historical foreign policy decisions.
Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, has been widely interpreted as a demonstration of India’s no-tolerance approach to terrorism.
